7 Days in Cluj-Napoca, also known as Cluj (in short), is a city in northwestern Romania, and it’s the unofficial capital of the Transylvania region. It’s located midway between Bucharest and Budapest. Most people visit Cluj to pass in or out of Romania.

Although it’s one of the largest cities, Cluj features a very safe living environment and is free from any danger, which remains a safe city for solo travel.

We simply loved Cluj-Napoca. The first time we visited Romania was back in 2020. It was actually a surprise birthday trip for me. And what a surprise that was!! Norbert got himself into some hassle to get it all done, but it was all worth it. We spent seven days roaming around the beautiful city and couldn’t get enough of its beauty!

If you want to experience Transylvania, which we highly recommend, you should visit Cluj at all costs. People here are slow-paced, while this city is less touristy.

We visited this beautiful city in February, and the temperature was -5°C. If you plan a Summer trip, the temperatures are warmer and can reach up to 30°C.

Although there are no major attractions, there’s so much to explore and do in Cluj. It’s worth visiting, especially if you’re into nature, architecture and vibe. Ideally, stop at this fantastic place before exploring Transylvania.
