Welcome to Gozo, also known as Għawdex.

Gozo is another tiny island in the Mediterranean Sea with a population of around 33,000. It makes up part of the Maltese archipelago. Maltese people call Gozo Malta’s sister Island.

Most Maltese people visit this small Island several times a year, especially in the Summer. We don’t know how often we’ve been there; we find every excuse to visit. It’s a perfect way to unwind ourselves from everyday life.

Gozo is well known for its Neolithic Ġgantija Temple ruins, dating back to around 3600-2500 B.C. These temples are older than the pyramids of Egypt. These temples are assigned as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with other similar structures.

You can find several rural hiking paths and scuba-diving sites. This serene landscape is renowned for its agriculture industry and splendid coastline destinations.

The fact is that this island is more secluded and serene, with villages much more tranquil than the ones found in Malta. Most people love to visit this place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life. If you visit Malta, we highly recommend hopping on its sister island.

Did you know that Gozo is one of the top diving destinations in the world?

If you have never tried diving, this island is your golden opportunity to try it for the first time. You’ll find enough diving sites accessible from the coast, mostly having caves and wrecks. You should check out the Blue Hole and the Għasri Cave.

How to get to Gozo?

You have two options to get to Gozo from Malta.

You’ll need to catch the ferry departing from Cirkewwa, Malta, which takes you directly to Mgarr Harbour. Crossing to Gozo only takes you around 25 minutes (one way).

The second option is a Fast Ferry from Lascaris Wharf Terminal in The Grand Harbour in Valletta. To arrive at Gozo takes around 45 minutes, but you’ll avoid the heavy traffic going to Cirkewwa.

Always check the Gozo Channel timetable beforehand. In case of severe weather conditions, the ship might not always work.

Everywhere in Gozo is serene and worth visiting; however, these are a few places you can’t miss.

Tal-Mixta Cave – Nadur

Sanap Cliffs – Munxar

Ta’ Ċenċ Cliffs – Sannat

Cittadella – Victoria

The Collapsed Azure Window Dwejra – San Lawrenz

Tas-Salvatur Hill – Marsalforn

Salt Pans – Xlendi and Qbajjar

Il-Qolla l-Bajda – Żebbuġ
