Camp in a campsite

Certain best moments are often undocumented and unshared on social media. We keep those special moments to ourselves and cherish them with our loved ones. Camping in Gozo is an experience that generously provides many intimate and memorable moments.

Planning a camping trip? Here are some essential tips you should be aware of before going on your adventure.

For those considering wild camping in Gozo, obtaining a permit from the local council is essential, with a fee of approximately €30.

On the other hand, private camping sites come at a more affordable price. Our favourite is Ruby’s Camping Site, situated on the outskirts of Marsalforn. Offering stunning views of the Salvatur Hills, Marsalforn Sea, and countryside, this campsite is reasonably priced at around €8 per person.

Securing an early booking for the camping site is crucial, particularly during the Spring and Summer, as spaces tend to fill up quickly.

Here’s a list of the camping gear and equipment needed

Tent with poles and stakes, groundsheet and tarp

Inflatable mattresses or sleeping bags and Inflatable pillows

blankets and repair kit for the tent

Camping chairs and table

Torch, lantern, matches and firewood

Small cooking stove and fuel, cooking pots and pans

Corkscrew and food storage containers

Cooler with ice and water bottles

Dishware, utensils and foil

Biodegradable soap and paper towels

Toiletries and first aid kit

Insect repellant and sunscreen

Camera

Trash bags

Camping clothes and shoes

The choice of clothing to pack depends on the activities planned. It’s crucial to pack comfortable clothes for both daytime and nighttime.

Additionally, remember to bring a swimsuit for water-related activities and a rain jacket for camping during winter days.

Shoes: Hiking shoes and flip-flops are enough, but you should also consider taking water shoes.

Food and Drinks Checklist

An essential camping food and beverages list includes various items to ensure a well-rounded meal during your outdoor adventure. Consider packing staples such as bread, crackers, soups, and tinned foods, along with vegetables, eggs, beans, rice, couscous, tuna, pasta, and ready-made sauce in jars.

Don’t forget to include fruits, cereal, peanut butter, jam, powdered milk, and beverages like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and ample water. For those who enjoy BBQs, meal planning becomes even more essential to enrich the camping experience.

TIP: Remember to take some board games and play cards with you, as it’s a fun way to spend your afternoons or end your day surrounded by a campfire.

Immerse yourself in the tranquillity of camping, where the opportunity to breathe in fresh air awaits. Remember that some of the most cherished memories are in the great outdoors, so embrace the wild side and go on a camping adventure!
