If Lamezia Terme isn’t yet on your travel bucket list, we’re sure it will after reading about it! We were unsure which country to visit until we found a flight to Lamezia Terme for only €18 with the return. You can check out deals for yourself.
Lamezia Terme is a small city located in the south of Italy. It’s a small town in the Calabria region, in the province of Catanzaro, between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas.
Although Lamezia hasn’t become extremely popular with tourists, one can find many beautiful attractions, from rocky landscapes, picturesque nature, ruins of ancient medieval castles and fortresses, majestic churches, impressive museums and hot springs. It’s a hidden destination, and you’ll be surprised by the unique places you can explore.
We spent five days wandering around Lamezia to celebrate Norbert’s birthday and were amazed by its beauty and how much this place can offer. Lamezia Terme is worth visiting and an ideal destination for a small break to relax. Cheers to his 35th!

ANOTHER THING YOU CAN’T MISS IN LAMEZIA IS THE TERME CARONTE!
It’s not usual today that you can benefit from a free spa experience. Yes, you’re reading right! It’s free for everyone! Apart from this being free, you can go there whenever you want!
These thermal baths are located in Lamezia, in Contrada Caronte, close to the international airport and the central train station. We were lucky that our accommodation was close to these baths, and our host, Fabio, told us about them.
Due to the high geothermal gradient of the area and great depth, the water temperature of the Caronte thermal baths is about 39°C. The healthy, sulphurous waters of these thermal baths have gushed out for over two thousand years and have the effectiveness of their therapeutic properties.
Anyone staying in Lamezia Terme should also take the opportunity to visit other places which are close by, like Cosenza and Reggio Calabria, which are surrounded by nature. It’s worth it! Furthermore, it’s straightforward to use their train stations.
Other Places One Must Visit Which Are Close To Lamezia
Tropea
Tropea is a small picturesque town on the east coast of Calabria, also in southern Italy. It’s mostly known for its cliff-top historic centre and its magnificent beaches. We took the train from Lamezia to Tropea, which took around 1 hour and were amazed by the breathtaking countryside views on one side and the coast on the other.
We spent a day wandering around this beautiful town and were stunned by the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola. This structure dominates the entire village, between the Church and the castle, on a giant rock overlooking the sea. While in Tropea, we met Fay, a solo traveller who inspires every generation.
Tropea, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, is worth visiting!
