Stop Telling Us We’re Running Away!!
Last Updated on January 26, 2024 by Wandering Beyond
Have you ever thought about escaping reality?
Now, you might be asking… ”What do you mean by this?” You’re about to find out.
If you’re not ready to hear the truth, this blog post isn’t for you. Just stop reading… or maybe you should keep on reading till the end to at least try and understand.
To be honest with you, we don’t know where to start. Maybe we’ll sound harsh… but it’s not the case. We’re only being honest, wanting you to accept us for who we are.
The Annoying Questions
A lot of people keep asking us the same questions over and over.
Why don’t you buy a house and settle down?
Don’t you think you’re wasting money on travel?
Will you ever get married?
You’re growing up! What about having kids?
Are you escaping reality?
Well…
Do you need to buy a house to be ‘settled’? Every individual can be called ‘settled’ once they reach that stage and feel true happiness in their heart.
Actually, what is a house? Suppose it’s that place which one can call home. Right? We believe a home is a place wherever in the world where you do FEEL at home. It could be a large house, a tiny apartment, a camp, a field, a boat, a van or even a person… it doesn’t have to be a ‘house’ as long as you’re happy.
Jumping to the next questions
Wasting money on travel?… Are you for real to ask this question? Believe us, spending money on travel is like buying happiness! As we always say, the world is too big to stay in just one place.
Think about it this way. Some people buy a house and spend the rest of their lives working to pay their mortgage. We don’t have to do that as we chose not to. Travel not only opens our eyes but also our hearts, minds and souls. The memories we make, including our worst moments, are way much better than any material things!
Get married, get married, get married!! This question is one of those we hate the most. As a matter of fact, why do you keep asking us about marriage? Does it affect your life if we get married?
A simple answer… because we don’t want to get married for now. We’re not in the marriage fever yet. If we decide to get married, that would be our decision.
The kids’ question. (Although we believe it’s a rude question to ask anyone.) Anyway… Without going deep into answering this one. We love kids, BUT we’re not ready to have our own. And no, we won’t regret it in the future. This particular topic was deeply discussed together, and it’s our choice.
And on this note, STOP asking people,” When are you going to have kids?”. It just makes them feel distressed!
Stop Controlling Others
Sometimes, apart from the repetitive questions, we also get negative comments from random people stating we’re irresponsible and we’ll regret what we’re currently doing in the future.
Stop controlling us. This is our life. Travel makes us happy, and this is the life we want to live! Here, we’re trying to be clear about our feelings even though we don’t owe anyone an explanation. Each person is free to live the life of his dreams.
Our Freedom
Travelling, backpacking and living on the road is something beyond words. It gives us the freedom to experience life from a different perspective. We constantly meet people along the way and see and do things we never saw and did before.
We don’t want to live the ‘normal’ life. We want to experience all cultures, eat food we never thought of eating and meet brave people with the most unbelievable stories to tell. Let us live our life, not of someone else.
One day, we want to look back at life, saying,” We can’t believe we did that!” instead of ” If only we had”. Life is too short to waste on things that don’t excite you!
Escaping Reality
To all those people assuming that we have an unstable life, who think we’re escaping reality, avoiding problems by travelling or running away, we want to confess something to you.
YES, we ARE running away! We’re running away from normality and the ‘real life’. We don’t like being ‘normal’. We’re chasing our dreams with all our freedom. Creating the most exciting life for ourselves is all we want to do!
Everybody has problems, even us. We’re also human beings trying to get along with our lives on this planet. Our difference is that we try and do whatever makes us happy. Judging people or asking questions which aren’t our business isn’t our thing. Let everyone live their life the way they want. If it makes you happy, then you’re doing it right!
Our Advice
Everyone has his own opinions about life. Our advice to anyone in the same situation as ours is simple. Is escaping reality also your desire? Do you want to be different?
Any dream that you have go and chase it! Make your dreams a reality! Don’t let anyone stop you! The bigger and scarier your goals are, the better!! Be brave, look forward, search for that freedom, be fearless and achieve your dream!
When you look back, be sure you won’t regret anything and say, ‘What if…??’ but instead, you’ll be thrilled and don’t know where to start sharing your exciting stories!
Remember that the most beautiful journey of a lifetime will kick off with just a tiny step.
Be Supportive
There’s nothing wrong with buying a house, getting married or having kids. If that’s your dream, pursue it with all your heart! Not everyone has the same desires. No matter what your goals are, always follow your heart and make sure to live your life the happiest way possible!
We chose the life of travel, backpacking in various countries, hitchhiking in the unknown, exploring the world, being different, and most of all, we want to be happy!
There’s so much going on in our world, and we believe it’s essential to be more supportive of each other rather than judgmental. Accepting every individual the way they are is a great thing to aspire to.
