Let’s be honest. Not everyone feels safe travelling during the pandemic.
When the pandemic started, the world got confused, and some people were affected more than others. In this blog, you’ll find helpful information to ease your mind from stress.
It’s so much fun to think about travel. Planning where you want to go next is so exciting! Don’t let COVID stop you from doing what you love.
During COVID, we travelled to 18 countries. At first, we were pretty concerned, but then we realised it was nothing serious. Of course, things did change, especially at the airports, but with a few things, we still can travel.
Here are 10 useful tips to help you travel safely during COVID
1. Check Travel Restrictions
To avoid spreading COVID, it’s crucial to check the travel restrictions of the country you want to visit before planning. Try to skip countries that are at very high risk.
2. Keep Your Vaccine Certificate Or PCR Test Handy
You’ll be asked at the airport to show proof of your COVID-19 vaccine certificate. If you’re not vaccinated, make sure to bring a PCR test. These are also required to enter some establishments in certain countries.
3. Get A Travel Insurance
Although this might sound obvious, it’s essential to check that the insurance you choose covers you when travelling during the pandemic.
We highly recommend using SafetyWing. You can choose Nomad Insurance, a global travel medical insurance covering people from all over the world outside their home country, including COVID-19 coverage. You can buy it even if you are already abroad.
4. Complete All Your Documentation
Before entering or leaving most countries, you need to fill out forms. Always check what you need to fill in and by when properly. We generally have all documentation saved online, but always check if the country you’re visiting requires you to have them printed. In some countries, you must show proof of a negative COVID test completed within a specific time before your flight.
5. Check Out The Rules
Restrictions for travelling and quarantine vary in every country. Always check your home country’s rules and travel destination on an official government website. In some countries, you should wear specifically the KN95 mask.
6. Be Early At The Airport
Allow extra time at the airport, ideally, 2 hours before your flight. Due to more checks on passports and vaccine certificates, queues may be longer than usual. The last thing you want is to lose your flight.
7. Be Prepared For Cancellations And Changes Of Plans
Flights, transport, and accommodations might get cancelled at the last minute if there are changes in rules due to COVID-19. For the latest updates, you can visit the official website of WHO.
8. Be Responsible
Travelling during COVID-19 is different from what we know as usual. For all of us to keep travelling, being responsible is very important. Practise social distancing and wash your hands thoroughly and frequently.
9. Wear A Mask
Wearing a mask during flights is mandatory. In most countries, it’s also compulsory inside shops and public transport.
